FOUR WALLS
This coming of age drama tells the story of BOBBY LUMINARE, born into the mean streets of Toronto’s Little Italy in the late 1960’s. Marked as a young boy by the brutal death of his older brother and mentor TONY, Bobby quickly loses his direction and channels his anger into a self-destructive fall into a life full of violence and drugs. Eight years later and now seventeen, Bobby gets into a fight with a rival drug dealer and is pulled before a judge. The verdict. Bobby can either go to juvenile detention and throw away the rest of his life, or return to high school and make his grades. Bobby makes the first of many important choices and decides to return to school. Now back in a positive environment, Bobby begins to flourish. He joins the school’s track team and finds a new mentor in the team’s coach CYRUS. He also begins to hang out with his fellow runners, a group of good-natured Jamaican boys and quickly finds solace at the opportunity to redefine his own identity, but the more Bobby tries to pull away and lead a new life, the more the old neighborhood tries to bring him down. Familiar forces conspire to drag him back into “the life”, and with pressure mounting and time running out, Bobby struggles with his inner demons as he searches for the strength to break free.
